Print Workshops in VISUAL Carlow March 2012

Plans have started for the next set of print workshops scheduled for VISUAL in March.   This time I'll be working on drawing and printing skills for printing on a press, so it's going to be accessible as a course in itself, or as a follow-on for those who participated in the last course in October 2011, which went very well!  Great fun, so hoping for more of the same this time round.  Working on a press is always interesting, great to get a chance to use this equipment and always nice to spend some time in the art centre too.

Still time to visit my DREAMLANDS exhibition!

From 17th September 2011 - 8th January 2011

http://www.dnote.info/dnotes/mary-cullen/
'Mary Cullen presents a subtle and considered exhibition in the Lobby Gallery at VISUAL. This body of work is a combination of hand printing techniques with elements of textiles. These intimate pieces are layered in colour and texture, drawing the viewer into the image. As the title suggests, the work merges memory of places real and imagined; inviting the viewer into these Dreamlands.
The experience of making the artworks is very important to the artist, as engagement in an art-making activity can lead a ‘flow’ experience, where one is engrossed or lost in the activity.  Sometimes this ‘flow’ can be seen or sensed in the finished piece, be it through composition, colour or technique displayed.
Mary Cullen is a printmaker based in Carlow and is a member of Blackstack Print Studio, Kilkenny.'

DREAMLANDS My exhibition opening on 16th September 2011

The work has been delivered to Visual so you can see my show Dreamlands 16th September and running until 8 Jan 2012 http://www.visualcarlow.ie.  The work going in to the other galleries looks fabulous, I got a peak at some of the Sonja Landweer pieces so can't wait to see all in situ.  Very exciting to be behind the scenes in such an amazing space.  Hopefully we'll have a nice crowd for the opening and lots of visitors for the duration.
