Still time to visit my DREAMLANDS exhibition!

From 17th September 2011 - 8th January 2011

'Mary Cullen presents a subtle and considered exhibition in the Lobby Gallery at VISUAL. This body of work is a combination of hand printing techniques with elements of textiles. These intimate pieces are layered in colour and texture, drawing the viewer into the image. As the title suggests, the work merges memory of places real and imagined; inviting the viewer into these Dreamlands.

The experience of making the artworks is very important to the artist, as engagement in an art-making activity can lead a ‘flow’ experience, where one is engrossed or lost in the activity.  Sometimes this ‘flow’ can be seen or sensed in the finished piece, be it through composition, colour or technique displayed.

Mary Cullen is a printmaker based in Carlow and is a member of Blackstack Print Studio, Kilkenny.'

Creative Print  Workshop with Mary Cullen will run over three weeks on Tuesday 27th September; 4th October; 11th October at 6.30pm. €60 for three sessions. Places are limited so please book through the box office 0599172600.

DREAMLANDS My exhibition opening on 16th September 2011

The work has been delivered to Visual so you can see my show Dreamlands 16th September and running until 8 Jan 2012 http://www.visualcarlow.ie.  The work going in to the other galleries looks fabulous, I got a peak at some of the Sonja Landweer pieces so can't wait to see all in situ.  Very exciting to be behind the scenes in such an amazing space.  Hopefully we'll have a nice crowd for the opening and lots of visitors for the duration.

We seek to combine various artistic disciplines to stage arts events that are inspiring and entertaining (for more information see our page on www.artlinks.ie .   BLUEPRINT gives artists the opportunity to practice their skills around curating their own work, advertising, networking etc.
This year we hope to have approx. 14 artists showing a work in a variety of media.  Contact myself, Brandon or Anthony at blueprint.carlow@gmail.com for more information or see http://www.eigse.com/fringe

Kilkenny Printmakers

It's great news for printmakers in the south east that thanks to artist Maeve Coulter, we'll soon have a print studio up and running in Kilkenny.  Fantastic news for those of us that haven't had access to printmaking facilities for a long time (plus a bit of trepidation that I won't even remember what I used to do!).  The core member group has already formed and the name Kilkenny Printmakers is being used at the moment - and the studio will have part time and associate members too.
Great to meet other artists, there will be a chance for exploration of new techniques, courses, etc and some exhibiton opportunities too hopefully.
