Blueprint Art Exhibition at Eigse Carlow Arts Festival 2015

Showing this piece at Blueprint Carlow's 7th annual exhibition at Eigse Carlow Arts Festival 2015, along with 9 other artists, almost all of whom have previously exhibited with Blueprint.  Organising the exhibition at the festival brings with it the forgotten 'treats' each year - seeing new artworks, talking about art and hearing about other techniques, seeing more ways to frame, display and exhibit artworks.  It's easy to forget that often quite a lot of inspiration comes out of being involved in something like this - sometimes inspiration is thin on the ground so I'm grateful and so delighted when all at once I feel I'm surrounded by it.  The show SPACE@Blueprint is running on Castle Street, Carlow 30th May - 7th June.

'Miss K's Summer Holiday', Mixed Media, Mary Cullen Kelly 2014

This was the piece I exhibited and sold last year in the RHA Annual; the title draws from the Martian Chronicles (Ray Bradbury 1950) and the imagery has both a vintage and ethereal quality that I particularly like.  I'm a huge fan of old movies and the intricate detail and lighting of the sets and settings.
